Playgroup of the Year

The Playgroup Excellence Awards are conducted each year to acknowledge playgroups who strive to achieve ‘Best Practice in a playgroup setting’. Awards are given to playgroups which meet the standards that contribute to a successful playgroup. The standards are in line with the aims and values of Playgroup NSW.

A Playgroup Award for Excellence in the categories listed below will be chosen. All Playgroups are encouraged to apply.

The Playgroup Award for Excellence categories are:

* Best Country multi-session Playgroup
* Best Country single-session Playgroup
* Best City multi-session Playgroup
* Best City single-session Playgroup

How to apply for the awards:

1. Read and discuss the application form with your whole Playgroup. Many Playgroups have found this the most valuable part of the process. It is a chance to identify and appreciate all the things you already are doing well, and get ideas for ways to organise some things even better.

2. Fill in the application form. If there is not enough space on the form, a separate sheet may be attached. No other documentation is necessary, and any additional information/material provided will not be taken into consideration.

3. Show the completed application form to the whole Playgroup for their approval. The application should be signed by the three cheque signatories, and mailed to Playgroup NSW Inc. PO Box 6665, Wetherill Park DC 1851or emailed to admin@playgroupnsw.com.au by Friday, 17 July 2009.

How the entries will be judged:

The Awards for Excellence are generally decided on the basis of the written entries. In the unlikely event of a tied vote by the selection committee, a representative of Playgroup NSW may visit the finalists (unannounced) to assist in the decision-making process.

The awards will be announced and presentations made at Playgroup 2009 on 29 August. All playgroups that apply for the awards will receive a letter acknowledging their work towards creating a playgroup of excellence.
