Types of PlaygroupsAll Playgroups are similar in that they are groups of young children, accompanied by a caring adult, enjoying the interaction and learning experiences that occur through play. Playgroups are also all different because they are made up of families who bring with them a wide range of experiences, skills, interests and expectations. Playgroups may be a diverse mix of families or they may cater to a special interest group.
Diverse groups may include: - Baby groups and first time parents
- Fathers’ groups
- Groups where languages other than English are spoken
- Groups for families from culturally diverse backgrounds
- Montessori groups/Steiner groups
- Grandparents groups
- Groups for indigenous people
- Groups for families with a particular need or special interest in common
