Playgroup NSW Inc.
Intergenerational PlaygroupsPlaygroup NSW is working with UnitingCare Ageing – Sydney Region to establish intergenerational playgroups in Sydney. Currently playgroups are established in Leichhardt and Waverley with Haberfield and Lilyfield to follow in 2009. Whilst most community playgroups are set up and run by parents and/or caregivers. Intergenerational playgroups bring together three generations, seniors, children and their parents. These playgroups are held in a variety of settings which include – aged care facilities, retirement villages, and council venues. These specialised playgroups provide seniors, children and their parents and/or caregivers with opportunities to interactive through play. Visting, playing and interacting with seniors will add a new dimension to everyones playgroup experience. Children and families will develop a positive attitude and acceptance towards seniors. Intergenerational Playgroups ease the isolation often felt by the older generation and can offer families a powerful and rewarding experience benefiting your local community. • If you would like to find out how to join an Intergenerational Playgroup please contact Lee Marschall at Playgroup NSW on 1800 171 882. • If your aged care facility is interested in starting an Intergenerational Playgroup please contact Sandy Kervin at Playgroup NSW on 1800 171 882. |
